Farmers Protest: Political manoeuvres in the name of farmers should stop, says Bharatiya Kisan Sangh

Mishra highlighted the adverse consequences that often accompany movements orchestrated under the guise of advocating for farmers' rights but driven by political motives. Such actions, he argued, lead to violence, disruption, and damage to national assets, ultimately fostering negative perceptions towards farmers.

In a recent statement, the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), affiliated with the RSS, expressed its stance against the 'Delhi Chalo' march by farmers, labeling it as "political" and diverging from the genuine interests of the farming community. The BKS General Secretary, Mohini Mohan Mishra, emphasized the necessity for farmers to receive fair prices for their crops, reflective of production costs, rather than being drawn into political maneuvers, particularly during election seasons.

Asserting their commitment to farmers' welfare, Mishra stated that the BKS consistently champions the cause of securing remunerative prices for agricultural produce, pushing for dialogue with governments when necessary and resorting to agitations when discussions fail to yield solutions.

Among their demands are fair pricing based on production costs, the removal of GST on agricultural inputs, an increase in support through the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, and a prohibition on the use of GM seeds.

Mishra lamented the exploitation of farmers for political gain, citing past instances like the protests in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, in 2017, and the demonstrations against the farm laws in Delhi from 2020 to 2021. He urged an end to political manipulation under the guise of advocating for farmers' interests.

The BKS continues its efforts to address farmers' challenges, regardless of the ruling government, with a particular focus on issues related to seeds and market exploitation. Mishra stressed the need to curb exploitation both within and outside agricultural markets to truly uplift the farming community.
