In a concerning turn of events, the father of an individual accused in the Mahadev betting app scam in Chhattisgarh was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the state's Durg district. The deceased, identified as Sushil Das, aged 62, had reportedly been missing for the past two days.
Durg Senior Superintendent of Police, Ram Gopal Garg, stated that initial findings point towards a case of suicide. Sushil Das, employed as a security guard in a private company, had been missing since Sunday evening. The police have sent his body for post-mortem examination, with the exact cause of death to be determined upon receipt of the report.
Sushil Das's son, Asim Das, was implicated in the Mahadev app case, where he was accused of being a driver and alleged cash courier. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Asim on November 3, claiming to have seized Rs 5.39 crore from his possession.
During the Chhattisgarh elections, the ED released a statement revealing startling allegations of regular payments made in the past, stating that around Rs 508 crore had been paid by Mahadev App promoters to Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. The ED emphasized that these allegations were under investigation.
The political ramifications of these allegations stirred controversy in Chhattisgarh, with the Congress and Chief Minister Baghel labeling it as a conspiracy. Asim Das found himself at the center of the political storm, and further investigation into the Mahadev app case continues. The circumstances surrounding Sushil Das's death add another layer of complexity to an already intricate and politically charged situation.
