Dassault and Tata Forge Deal to Produce Rafale Fuselages in India

The agreement involves Tata Advanced Systems establishing a world-class production facility in Hyderabad to make major structural components of the Rafale, including the rear fuselage's lateral shells, the complete rear section, the central fuselage, and the front section.

Dassault Aviation, the producer of Rafale fighter planes, has collaborated with the Tata group to manufacture some parts of the aircraft for Indian and foreign markets. Under this partnership, a new plant is to be set up in Hyderabad.

Together, the companies released in a joint statement, "Dassault Aviation and Tata Advanced Systems Limited signed four Production Transfer Agreements to produce the fuselage of the Rafale combat aircraft in India, which is a key milestone in enhancing India's aerospace production capacity and enabling world supply chains. The facility is a strong investment in India's aerospace infrastructure and will be a vital center for precision manufacturing.

Significantly, it will be the first time Rafale fuselage production will be done outside France. Eric Trappier, Dassault Aviation's Chairman and CEO, stated, "For the first time, Rafale fuselages will be manufactured outside France. This is a firm step towards reinforcing our supply chain in India.". With the growth of our local partners, such as TASL, a leading industrial player in India's aerospace sector, this supply chain will be instrumental in the successful ramp-up of the Rafale, and, with our assistance, will satisfy our quality and competitiveness demands."

Sukaran Singh, Tata Advanced Systems Limited CEO and Managing Director, referred to the deal as a historic milestone in India's aerospace evolution. "Production of the entire Rafale fuselage in India marks enhanced confidence in Tata Advanced Systems' capability and the effectiveness of our partnership with Dassault Aviation. It also demonstrates the significant strides India has taken toward creating a new, strong aerospace manufacturing ecosystem that can sustain global platforms," he stated.
