Covid-19 India Update: 6,822 new cases, lowest in 558 days and 220 deaths

The data also disclosed that 220 succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours and the new Omicron covid variant cases have been detected in five states till now including Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The total number of Omicron cases in India has increased to 23 on Tuesday.

India has recorded 6,822 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours which is the lowest number of fresh covid cases registered in 558 days, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday. The data also disclosed that 220 succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours and the new Omicron covid variant cases have been detected in five states till now including Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The total number of Omicron cases in India has increased to 23 on Tuesday.

Covid-19 | Key Updates


1. With the recovery of 10,004 patients in the last 24 hours the total recovered patients tally and increased to 3,40,79,612, keeping the recovery rate at 98.36 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

2. With new 220 fatalities added, the nationwide death toll has reached to 4,73,757

3. A total of 95,014 active current cases were recorded which account for only 0.27 per cent of the total covid-19 cases recorded in the country, which is also the lowest in past 554 days.

4. On Tuesday the weekly positivity rate remained less than 1 per cent at 0.78 per cent for 23 days straight. In addition to this, the daily positivity rate stood at 0.63 per cent, which remained below 2 per cent for 64 days straight and less than 3 per cent for 99 days straight.

5. 79,39,038 covid vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours and the total number of vaccinated in the country has reached 128.76 crores as of Tuesday morning.
