A bomb threat at a school appears to be a hoax call, so there's no need to panic, according to MHA

Following a series of bomb threats targeting several schools across Delhi and its outskirts, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has assured the public that there is no reason for alarm.

Labeling the threats as likely hoaxes, the MHA stated that the Delhi Police and security agencies are diligently adhering to standard protocols and implementing necessary precautions.

Efforts to trace the source of the threatening emails have been intensified, with the Crime Branch and IFSO unit of Delhi Police's Special Cell actively investigating. Despite thorough searches conducted in the schools, no suspicious items have been discovered.

Sources reveal that the perpetrators behind the emails have employed proxy addresses, indicating a well-planned scheme.

Reports indicate that over 15 schools in South Delhi, eight in Shahdara, eight in Southwest Delhi, 7-8 in Dwarka, two in North, and one in North East Delhi have received such threats.

Delhi Police, in a statement on X, reassured the public, emphasizing that all schools mentioned in the emails have undergone rigorous checks, yielding no concerning findings. Bomb squads continue to comb through the premises as a precautionary measure.

Numerous prominent schools, including DPS Dwarka and Noida, Sanskriti School, Indian School, St Thomas School, and Amity School in Pushp Vihar, were among those targeted by the chilling emails.

In response to the threats, some schools opted to close temporarily on Wednesday, while others decided to send students home following the receipt of the emails.

Nikita Tomar Mann, Principal of Indraprastha Global School (IPGS) in Noida, urged the public to remain composed, emphasizing that evacuated schools are taking necessary precautions, while others continue regular operations.

Amidst the chaos, senior police officials disclosed that the threatening emails have followed a consistent pattern since Tuesday, lacking specific dates but indicating mass distribution through the 'bcc' function. An ongoing investigation is in progress to identify the culprits behind these malicious acts.
