Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday spoke about the accomplishments of the NDA government on the 100th day of the Modi government's third term.
It was accompanied by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw as Union Home Minister Shah launched a booklet highlighting the achievement of the government on the 100th day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term.
Union Minister Shah also said, addressing the media in national capital today, that projects worth Rs 15 lakh crores have been initiated in the first 100 days of this term. And this includes an infrastructure worth Rs 3 lakh crores.
It was a significant policy shift that the Home Minister, regarding the case of India's foreign policy, noted: "For the first time since Independence, the world has seen a foreign policy with a backbone under the Modi government. Previously, many, including myself, couldn't see this backbone in India's foreign policy. Now, it is visible.".
He also counted the achievements of the Modi government in the last decade. In his speech, he stated that 60 crore people have been benefited by houses, toilets, gas connections, drinking water, electricity, free grains, and medical which would cost up to Rs 5 lakh annually.
"Our dream is that in the next elections, no citizen of this nation will be left without a home," he said.
As the Home Minister mentioned political stability that came under PM Modi, he stated, "For the first time in 60 years, the country is witnessing political stability, and we have also felt the consistency of policy implementation."
"Maintaining the speed of policies for the past decade and entering the 11th year is difficult, in my opinion," he added.
He said that a mega port costing Rs 76,000 crore is going to be developed and that it is going to be in the top 10 ports in the world. "We will connect 25,000 unconnected villages with an investment of Rs 59,000 crore, and we are going to upgrade major roads across the country for Rs 50,600 crore," he added.
He also referred to the 17th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana, that released Rs 20.5 crore to 9 crore farmers. Sanctions to 12.33 lakh have been sanctioned Rs 3 lakh crore.
The government also hiked MSP of Kharif crops and encouraged ethanol production from maize to decrease its dependence on sugar.
He further added that the middle class will be preferred more by the government, said while tax redemption on income up to Rs 17 lakh will take place and the limit on the Mudra loan has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
Three crore houses have been made under PM Awas Yojana, while three versions of One Rank, One Pension have been allocated, said the Union Home Minister.
Hailing the successful implementation of the 'Lakhpati Didi' programme, he said, "I believe that even this initiative, in a way, will open up an avenue for employment for poor women."
He hailed the government for its efforts to abolish the 31 per cent angel tax on start-ups and lauded the Ayushman Bharat Yojana for health coverage till Rs 5 lakh.
The Union Home Minister stated that the elderly above 70 years would receive an extra amount of Rs 5 lakh for medical expenditure and would not face any kind of income restrictions.
He also announced three new criminal law enactments are being initiated to come into existence – the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam in lieu of the IPC, the Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, respectively.
He also unveiled a new flood management scheme for Rs 6,350 crore in the country for the first time. He also mentioned the formation of five new districts in Ladakh as well as the declaration of June 25 as Constitution Day, as a step to raise the awareness and prevent future challenges like Emergency in the country.
On the Manipur situation, he said that within the first 100 days of the third term of the Modi government, it has fenced 30 kms of India-Myanmar border and proposes to fence the whole 1,500 kms.
He informed that the government has nullified the accord that allows a movement across the India-Myanmar border without a visa and has successfully deployed the CRPF at strategic locations in the region.
On violence in Manipur, the Union Minister said, "There has been a spate of violence in the last three days. Other than this, there have been no major incidents in the last three months. We feel hopeful that we would be able to bring it under control. We are discussing with both the local tribes, Kuki as well as the Meitei groups. We have a plan to deal with this."
He also reiterated the commitment of the government toward the development, security, and welfare of the people of the country enshrined in its vision of Viksit Bharat in Amritkaal.
Replying to a question on upholding local languages, he said, "I wish to say that the government feels that no country can progress by eliminating local languages. Local languages are part of our history, culture, and traditions. Hence, the new education policy focuses on primary education in local languages."
