Vladimir Lisin: Know the Chairman of NLMK Group, Russia's fourth largest steel company

Lisin started his career as a mechanic in a Soviet coalmine. Later, he got a job at Tulachermet Metals Works as a welder foreman. With his hard work he became section manger, shop manager and in the year 1986, got to the position of deputy chief engineer. In the Year 1992, he joined a group of traders, the Trans-World Group, and with his efforts, Vladimir Lisin, in the year 1993, became the board member of many Russian metal producers.

Vladimir Sergeyevich Lisin is the Chairman of Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), the fourth largest Russian Steel Company. The company was founded in the year 1931. NLMK Group is one the biggest Steel producing company in the world. As of February 2023, Vladimir Lisin has $ 25.4 billion net worth, according to Forbes.

In the year 1996, Vladimir became member of the board of directors of Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) whereas with his great leadership qualities and dedication towards the company, he became the Chairman of the company in the year 1998. In the year 2000, when Trans-World Group’s Partners split, Lisin received 13% of the firm and later got a controlling share. After sometime, he became the sole owner of Novolipetsk Steel and worked with his all skills and put his efforts for the development of the company and took it to the top. In April 2021, Vladimir Lisin was named as Russia’s 3rd richest man whereas he got the position of 58th richest man in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Vladimir Sergeyevich Lisin was born on 7th of May in 1956, Ivanovo, Soviet Union. After completing his schooling, Lisin went to Siberian Metallurgic Institute for his graduation and earned a Diploma in metallurgical engineering specialising in "Foundry of irons and non-ferrous metals", completed Postgraduate study in UKRNIIMET by correspondence (Kharkov, Ukraine) and after that earned MSc degree in Metal Engineering from the Central Research Institute of ferrous metallurgy named after I. P. Bardin in Moscow. Lisin Got married to Lyudmila Lisina and they have three Children.
