Born in Basel, Switzerland on August 8 1981, Roger Federer started playing Tennis at an early age.  At 13, he became one of the top 3 junior tennis players in Switzerland, and when he turned 14, he started playing Tennis tournaments and groomed himself to become a professional Tennis player. 

One of the greatest athletes in the sports world Roger Federer has transformed the role of a sportsperson as a whole. The way he carried his fitness and showed determination for playing his game has inspired a lot of people which also includes Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

Federer's career took a remarkable turn when he registered his first trophy in 2001 with Martina Hingis and won the Hopman Cup. Later, in the same year, he recorded his first singles title defeating Julien Boutter at the Milan Indoor Tournament. Throughout 2002, he played exceptionally well and beat his record by making it to the sixth position in the ATP Rankings. But as per experts, Federer got his breakthrough when he won seven ATP Tours titles in the nine finals he played.

And later, he was ranked in 2nd position at ATP rankings. Federer has won 103 ATP singles, 20 Grand Slams, 28 ATP Masters and 6 ATP Finals titles to his name. He has been awarded the title of World's best Sportsmen for the five times.

Roger Federer has been considered as the GOAT (greatest of all time) player in the Tennis game and acknowledged as one of the finest athletes in today's era.

Just like his sporting achievements, Roger Federer is known for his charity work also. After winning Wimbledon 2004, he auctioned his racquet and donated all the money for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Moreover, he also played a charity match with his rival Rafael Nadal and named it "match for Africa" and the game raised 4 million dollars. Also, in 2017 the University of Basel honoured him with a doctorate for raising the reputation of his home city.
