Raj Subramaniam was born on 14 September 1967 and his birthplace is Trivandrum, Kerala, India. He did his schooling at Lalola School in Thiruvananthapuram and pursued B.Tech at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Syracuse University. He also did his post-graduation from The University of Texas at Austin.
He joined FedEx in 1996 and became the Vice president of Marketing of Asia Pacific and later on became the regional president of Canada Pacific.
As President and Chief Operating Officer at FEDEX CORP, Rajesh Subramaniam made $7,966,929 in total. Of this total $987,667 was received as a salary, $1,991,136 was received as a bonus, $2,469,792 was received in stock options, $1,504,730 was awarded as stock and $1,013,604 came from other types according to proxy statements filed for the 2021 fiscal year, according to media reports.

On March 28, 2022, Raj Subramaniam was appointed the Chief Government Officer (CEO) of FedEx Company.
As President and CEO of the delivery company, he is responsible for providing strategic direction for all operating companies—FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx Services, FedEx Office, FedEx Logistics, and FedEx Dataworks.
He is also a member of the International Trade Administration’s Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness (ACSCC)
Raj is married to Uma Subramanium and the couple is blessed with two children.
