Natarajan Chandrasekaran: Meet the Chairman of Tata Sons

Chandrasekaran Started his career by working as an intern in Tata Consulting Services in year 1987 and with his hard work he climbed up in the company. He became the COO (Chief operating officer) in 2007 and in 2009 got the position of CEO (Chief Executive Officer) in the Tata Consulting Services.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran is the chairman of Tata Sons Private Limited the parent company of the Tata Group. Natarajan is the first chairman of the company who doesn’t have any relation with the Tata family through either blood or marriage.

In 2017, Chandrasekaran was appointed as the Chairman of Tata Sons. After Acquiring the position as the chairman, he showed enthusiasm towards the work and put effort in working as a good leader. During his tenure as chairman among the notable events was Tata Group’s Acquisition in 2022 of Air India the airline founded by the Tata family in 1932. 

Natarajan Chandrasekaran worked to modernize and redevelop the airline, which had become run-down and debt-laden after decades of mismanagement. He was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan in the Year 2022.  Natarajan has also chaired the board of several groups in Tata including Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power and Tata Consultancy Services. In 2016, Reserve Bank of India appointed him as one of the Board of Directors.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran was born on June 2, 1963, in Mohanur near Namakkal in Tamil Nadu, He was Born into a Tamil Family. Chandrasekaran completed his schooling from a Tamil Government in Mohanur and for his graduation he went to Coimbatore Institute of Technology in Tamil Nadu and earned Bachelor’s degree in science. Chandrasekaran completed his Master of Computer Applications from the Regional Engineering College in Tamil Nadu. He is Married to Lalitha Chandrasekaran and has a Son Pranav.
