Kaivalya Vohra is the co-founder and Chief Technology officer (CTO) of Zepto- India's fastest-growing e-grocery company. Zepto is a startup initiated by Kaivalya and Aadit Palicha in 2021 and the company, as on May 2022, has a net worth of $900 Million.
Before Zepto, Vohra co-founded Kiranakart along with Palicha in 2020. Kiranakart, a Mumbai-based online grocery delivery startup promised a 45-minute grocery delivery service across Mumbai. However, Kiranakart had to be wrapped up as they could not find a market fit for its product.
In April 2021, Palicha and Vohara founded Zepto, whose idea originates from the confines of their homes amid the pandemic. When they saw that there is a rise in demand for instant home deliveries of groceries and other kitchen essentials. Zepto’s tagline is, “Groceries delivered in 10 minutes.”
This idea eventually impressed the investors as the company raised $60 million in a funding round led by Glade Brook capital.
Within a year, Zepto emerged as a strong competitor to big startups like Swiggy, BigBasket, Grofers, etc. Grofers, for instance, also promises 10-minute delivery. Swiggy through InstaMart also delivers groceries, essentials, and self-care products in 15 minutes.
Recently, in its Series-D fundraise, Zepto raised $200 Million from marquee global investors including Y Combinator Continuity, Kaiser Permanente, Nexus Venture Partners, Glade Brook Capital, and Lachy Groom. Headquartered in Mumbai, Zepto is present across 10 major cities in the country with 1000+ employees and delivers 3000+ products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, daily cooking essentials, dairy, health-and-hygiene products, etc., to Indian homes within 10 minutes. Other than grocery, Zepto has also introduced a cafe offering that allows customers to order Coffee, Chai, and other Café items, along with their groceries.
