Laxman Narasimhan: Know the new India-born CEO of Starbucks

Laxman Narasimhan will join Starbucks on October 1 after relocating to Seattle, Washington, from London. He will succeed Howard Schultz who will continue as interim chief until April 2023.  Although Laxman will join Starbucks in October, he will formally take over the charge as the CEO on April 1, 2023, and for the time being, he will work closely with the interim CEO Schultz. Meanwhile, Howard Schultz will continue as a member of the company's board, and function as an ongoing advisor to Narasimhan.

The global coffee chain, Starbucks on Thursday, named Laxman Narasimhan as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Narasimhan is currently the CEO of Lysol and Enfamil baby formula, UK-based Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC.

Laxman Narasimhan began his career with McKinsey and worked there for over 19 years till 2012. Later in 2012, he joined PepsiCo and worked as the global chief commercial officer and CEO of the company's Latin America, Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa operations.

In 2019, Narasimhan succeeded Rakesh Kapoor as CEO of Reckitt Benckiser.

The 55-year-old, Narasimhan was born in Pune, India. He did his graduation in mechanical engineering from the University of Pune in India. Later, for higher studies, he went abroad and earned a Master's degree in German and international studies from The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania.

Narasimhan, well versed in 6 languages, lives in Greenwich, Connecticut. He is married and has 2 children.
