James Arthur Ratcliffe, also known as Jim Ratcliffe, is the chairman of INEOS Group limited, a British multinational chemicals company. INEOS Group is the fourth largest chemical company in the world. INEOS Group was founded in the year 1998. As of February 2023, James Arthur Ratcliffe has $ 15.1 billion net worth, according to Forbes.
Ratcliffe started his career by working in the oil giant Esso and after some time, he entered into finance and in the year 1989, he joined Advent International a US Private equity group. James co-founded Inspec, which leased the former BP chemicals site and later in the year 1998, he founded Ineos for the purpose of purchasing Inspec’s ethylene oxide facility.
James worked hard for developing the INEOS group due to which in the year 2006, the group bought BP’s refining and petrochemical arm Innovene. With his effort and hard work, he was named as the richest man in the United Kingdom in Sunday Times Rich list for the year 2018. According to Bloomberg Index, he was named as the 55th world’s richest man in the world and 2nd richest man in the United Kingdom for the year 2022. He became the owner of a Swiss Super league football Club, FC Lausanne-sport in the year 2017.
In the year 2009, James was granted an honorary fellowship by the Institution of Chemical Engineers for leadership in developing the INEOS group whereas in the year 2013, he was honoured with Petrochemical Heritage Award.

James Arthur Ratcliffe was born on 18th of October, 1952 in Failsworth, Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. After Completing his schooling and graduation, Ratcliffe went to London Business School and earned MSc in Finance degree. James got married to Amanda Townson and they have two sons but after some time they separated from each other. James also has one daughter from a previous relationship with Maria Alessa Maresca.
