Jayshree Ullal: Meet Arista Networks CEO who is one of the wealthiest self-made women in US

Jayshree V Ullal is one of the wealthiest self-made women in the United States. Jayshree, currently has a networth of nearly $1.8 billion and is ranked at the 15th spot on the Forbes list for 'America's richest self made women'. She is a Tamilian by birth and was born in London but grew up in Delhi. Later she moved to the United States. She studied electrical engineering from San Francisco State University and engineering management from Santa Clara University. 

Jayshree V Ullal is the President and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arista Networks, a cloud networking company. Ullal, an electrical engineer, became the CEO and President of Arista Networks in 2008.

She is one of the wealthiest self-made women in the United States. Jayshree, currently has a networth of nearly $1.8 billion and is ranked at the 15th spot on the Forbes list for 'America's richest self made women'.

Jayshree V Ullal is a Tamilian by birth and was born in London but grew up in Delhi. Later she moved to the United States. She studied electrical engineering from San Francisco State University and engineering management from Santa Clara University. 

After completing her studies, Jayshree began her career with engineering and strategy positions at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Fairchild Semiconductor. Later, at Ungermann-Bass, she became the director of internetworking products for four years. Afterwards she joined Crescendo Communications, at Crescendo she  became vice president of marketing, working with 100-Mbit/s over copper, the first CDDI products and first generation Ethernet switching.

After Crescendo Communications was acquired by Cisco Systems in 1993, She joined the company and worked on the Cisco Catalyst switching business, which grew from its beginning, in 1993, to a $5 billion business in 2000. Eventually, she was promoted  Senior Vice President of Data Center & Switching, reporting directly to company CEO John Chambers. She worked for over 15 years at Cisco.

According to The Economic Times, Ullal joined Arista in 2008 as president and CEO. “I was part of Cisco as it grew from $600 million to $40 billion and my own division grew from 0 to $10-billion-plus in annual revenues. But in moving to Arista, I was seeking something more entrepreneurial and a new hill to climb,” she says.

Jayshree had association with Artista network, when the company had only around 50 employees. Now, she owns 5% of Arista Networks stock. Ullal is also credited for making the company a billion dollar business by bringing the historic and successful IPO of Arista Network in June 2014.

Ullal is married to Vijay Ullal. The couple is blessed with two daughters and lives in Saratoga, California.
