Harold Glenn Hamm, popularly known as Harold Hamm, is the founder and chairman of Continental Resources, a petroleum and natural gas exploration and production company. Harold founded the company in the year 1967 and at that time, it was known as Shelly Dean Oil Company. As of March 2023, Harold Hamm has $ 22.4 billion net worth, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Harold Hamm started his career with old business at a very young age by using tank truck and some money to create a one-man oilfield services business. He worked hard in his business and in the year 1967, he started Shelly Dean Oil Co. and began wildcatting for oil. Harold worked for the growth of his company and in the year 1990, the company was named as Continental Resources. With the efforts of Hamm, the company is now one of the largest independent exploration and production firms of oil in the United States.
In the year 1995, Harold discovered about Bakken, a vast deposit of oil-bearing rocks and of oil. In the year 2003, Harold purchased some land in the Bakken oil field in North Dakota and drilled its first well and he utilized the horizontal drilling and the fracturing of bedrock to gain access to a large amount. In the year 2008, the Continental Resources became the 1st company to complete the horizontal well in the Three Forks Zone. Harold’s company started growing rapidly and now the company is known for its shale oil and it is Oklahoma’s fourth-largest public company.
Hamm has received many honors, like in the year 2007, he was named as the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the year. The Time magazine named him in the “World’s 100 Most Influential People” list for the year 2012 whereas in the year 2016, he received Horatio Alger Award and the Oil and Gas Investor magazine named him as the Executive of the year.

Harold Glenn Hamm was born on 11th of December, 1945 in Lexington, Oklahoma, United States. After completing his schooling, Hamm went to Northwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma and earned his honorary degrees. Harold got married to Judith Ann and had three children but in 1987 they got legally separated. Later, he got married to Sue Ann Arnall they had two children but in the year 2012 he got separated from his second wife also.
