C.S. Venkatakrishnan: Meet the new CEO of Barclays Bank PLC

C.S. Venkatakrishnan was born in Mysore. His full name is Coimbatore Sundararajan Venkatakrishnan. He completed his schooling at Mysore's High school and pursued his graduation in operations research. He also did Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before joining Barclays in 2016, he worked for JPMorgan Chase for 22 years where he held senior positions in assets management, investment banking, and risk management.

C.S. Venkatakrishnan is the Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Bank PLC (BBPLC). C.S. Venkatakrishnan is an American banker who replaced Jes Staley as the global CEO of Barclays bank in November 2021. The new CEO of Barclays, C.S. Venkatakrishnan is believed to have a net worth of around $30 million. C.S. Venkatakrishnan is thought to receive an annual salary of considerably more than $3.3 million, which is the salary of former CEO Staley.

Venkat worked for JPMorgan Chase from 1994 to 2016, where he held senior positions in asset management, investment banking, and risk, rising to chief investment officer for global fixed income, responsible for about US$200 billion in assets. He joined Barclays in 2016 as chief risk officer, before becoming head of global markets and co-president of BBPLC in October 2020.

Venkat left JPMorgan for Barclays in early 2016 and was among the first people Staley hired when he became CEO of the bank.

Venkat was initially the bank's chief risk officer. Venkat had been head of global markets for Barclays, and succeeded Jes Staley with immediate effect after Barclays was notified of the preliminary results from an investigation by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority into "how Staley had characterized his relationship with Epstein to Barclays".

The new CEO of Barclays, C.S. Venkatakrishnan is believed to have total assets of around $30 million, according to reports. 

Venkata has received $3.69 million in fixed compensation, half in real money and half in shares upon his arrangement as the CEO, as reported by Reuters.
