Zee Entertainment had claimed in its plea that the CBFC had already made the certificate for the movie but was not issuing it.

The film, certified with an A rating, still hadn't hit the screens. Ranaut, who has directed and co-produced the film besides playing the lead role of former prime minister late Indira Gandhi, had accused the CBFC of stalling the certification to delay the release.

The company had also averred that the certificate was being withheld on the grounds of political reasons and because the elections to Haryana were approaching .

The bench had questioned in a curious tone why the ruling party BJP would act against Ranaut who was herself a BJP MP.
