Looking back on the event, Blanchett started, "When I got married, which was a very long time ago—27 years ago," before briefly hesitating, distracted by a more recent photo of herself and Upton, 59, flashed across the studio screen.

Laughing at the candid photo, she jokingly asked, "Why am I doing it like that?" The photo, which was shot in March 2024, shows Blanchett seated and leaning forward toward her husband smiling warmly.

Coming back to reality, the Borderlands star called her enduring marriage "a miracle" and said, "I'm still married after 27 years." She went down memory lane and talked about the early years of their marriage, remembering that they couldn't even afford a professional photographer during that time.

"We had no money at all," she described. "We couldn't get a photographer, but we did have two friends who were photographers.

But it did not quite go as hoped. "One of them drank so much he forgot to put film in the camera, and the other enjoyed himself so much he didn't take any photographs," she told Barrymore, 50. "So we have only one wedding photo.

Describing the only photograph from their wedding, Blanchett said, "It's a fuzzy picture of us getting into the car, but that evening is so etched in my mind because of it."

The Disclaimer star owned up to how sad she was at the time when there were no photographs. "I was so upset and sad—I cried about it," she confessed. But later on, her outlook changed. "Now, I'm really thankful that I don't have photos. It makes me remember the night in my head over and over again."
