Simi Garewal requested Abhishek Bachchan that he must not call her as "aunty".
Being a guest on Garewal's super hit chat show, "Rendezvous with Simi Garewal" in 2003, Abhishek replied with a smile, "Something," when a crew member asked him to speak up for the sound check before the interview began. Everyone burst into laughter at this reply.
When asked for a more substantial line, he playfully tacked on, "Hello, I'm Abhishek Bachchan, and you are watching…" before stopping himself and looking around as though he could not remember the name of the show. Simi Garewal quickly intervened with a gentle nudge, and Abhishek went on with, ".Rendezvous with Simi Aunty."
Playfully imitating his father, Amitabh Bachchan, who was then hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Dhoom actor quipped, "Aaiye hum aur aap khelte hain (Let's play) Kaun Banega Crorepati."
Later, during the interview, Simi asked Abhishek not to call her "aunty" and that led to a very light-hearted exchange wherein they discussed what he should call her. Abhishek just gave a mock-serious suggestion that he will call her "Oprah" before joking that he thought he'd get thrown out before the interview could even begin.
Meanwhile, Garewal has been vocal in her defence of the Bachchan family against divorce rumors doing the rounds about Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai.
Close friend of the Bachchan family Simi Garewal revisits an old clip with Abhishek Bachchan speaking on commitment and loyalty in a relationship. The post came in after news broke that Abhishek was seeing his 'Dasvi' co-star, Nimrat Kaur. In the throwback video, the 'Bob Biswas' actor said, "I personally feel that as a man, if you commit to a woman, even if you get caught up with her boyfriend, you should be loyal to her. Men are usually accused of being very disloyal; I have never been able to understand that, and I do not agree with it. It disgusts me.".
Another recently, on social media, Simi denied an article saying that Amitabh Bachchan had publicized his relation with his daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda but didn't even bother for Aishwarya Rai.
Garewal stood up against the video and said that these baseless rumors were conveyed about the Bachchan family and that in reality, comments hold no valid understanding of the situation. Talking about the video, Garewal said, "You people don't know ANYTHING. Stop it."
