The controversy has sparked on the international level after suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s comment against prophet Muhammed. While the ex-BJP spokesperson is receiving criticism from across the country, Kangana Ranaut has come forward in the defense of Nupur.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Kangana raised her voice in the defense of Nupur, while writing “Nupur is entitled to her opinions, I see all kinds of threats targeted at her when Hindu gods are insulted which they are almost every day we go to court, please do that no need to play dons yourself, this is not Afghanistan, we have a properly functioning government which is chosen with a process called democracy… just a reminder for those who keep forgetting.”
The story from the Dhaakad actress came online after Delhi Police provided special protection to Nupur after she and her family received death threats.

The BJP suspended Sharma and expelled its Delhi unit media head Naveen Kumar Jindal as the row over their alleged derogatory and controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad received backlash and protests from some Muslim countries.
Islamic nations including Kuwait, Qatar, and Iran have heavily criticized the nation over Sharma and Jindal’s comment. Some Arab nations have even banned Indian products from their market.
Kangana is not the only actress who spoke about the row, her colleague Sawara Bhaskar has also talked about the row.
Sharing a tweet by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia condemning the inflammatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad, Bhaskar wrote "Oh hey @NupurSharmaBJP @navikakumar @TimesNow! Hope you are celebrating the international shame your hate-filled rabble-rousing has brought India!"
