Bridgerton enthusiasts have a lot to anticipate, but they'll have to wait patiently before getting back to the popular series.
Netflix announced at its Upfronts event on Wednesday that Shonda Rhimes' popular series has been officially renewed for Seasons 5 and 6. But the highly anticipated Season 4 won't be coming until 2026.
The streaming service hopes to eventually adapt all eight of Julia Quinn's romance books, with one season per season highlighting a different Bridgerton sibling. So only two members of the family are left to be officially signed on for adaptation. Considering how huge a success the show is and how one of Netflix's highest-performing shows, the future is bright for it—far even ahead.
One of the questions that remains, however, is which siblings' stories will be showcased in Seasons 5 and 6. To date, Netflix has produced the first four books in Quinn's series but made an interesting early decision by omitting the third book, An Offer from a Gentleman (Benedict's story) and instead basing Season 3 on the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton (Colin's story).
However, Benedict's tale is going to be in the spotlight in Season 4. Showrunner Jess Brownell, addressing a February event in London, said the next season would be the most loyal adaptation yet of its respective novel, and it will start with a lavish masquerade ball.
Here is the official description: "Season four of Bridgerton brings its focus to the second son, Benedict, who is the free spirit in the family. While his older and younger brothers have discovered bliss in wedlock, Benedict refuses to commit—until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball."
Also at the Upfronts, Netflix introduced fans to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look that starred Season 4's Benedict Bridgerton and Luke Thompson, who plays him, and his love interest, Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha.
