After receiving some negative comments, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan Starrer Coolie No 1 has become one of the lowest ranking films on IMDb. The film has gained a lower rank than Salman Khan's 'Race 3' on the rating platform.
Every Govinda fan is disappointed with Varun's performance in the remake. The movie which also stars some great Bollywood actors including Paresh Rawal and Johnny Lever is directed by David Dhawan, who also directed the original 1995 film starring Govinda in the male lead role and Karishma Kapoor in the female lead role.
on the basis of 21,151 votes by users, IMDb has ranked Varun and Sara's Coolie No 1 at 1.4. The Film has managed to gain rank lower than Salman Khan starring 'Race 3' that had a rating of 1.9. The film's rating puts Sara and Varun's remake just above Sadak 2 starring Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt. Sadak 2 has a 1 rating with 61,799 votes.
Coolie No 1 star Sara also spoke about the problematic plots of films while having an interview with Mid Day. "I'd urge people to watch the film with the honest intention with which it is told. There is a difference between what you say on Twitter, and what an entertaining comedy tries to say. Of course, you can't be demeaning. Govinda sir duping Karisma to make her believe that he is not a coolie, is funny." the actress said adding that if the audience begins to view everything from the correct lens, then the scope of humor gets lost.
