A constellation of Bollywood figures, including Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Zoya Akhtar, Soni Razdan, Arjun Kapoor, and Prajakta Koli, have thrown their weight behind actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, who found herself on the receiving end of a slap from a CISF constable at the Chandigarh airport.
The incident unfolded on Thursday as Kangana was en route to New Delhi, just a day after clinching victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, contesting as a BJP candidate.
Numerous luminaries, including Anupam Kher, Mika Singh, Raveena Tandon, and Shekhar Suman, swiftly denounced the episode.
Kangana’s rumored former flame Hrithik, along with Alia, also weighed in on the incident.
Journalist Faye D'Souza took to Instagram to decry the slapping incident, asserting, “Violence is never the solution.”
“Especially in a nation founded on the principles of non-violence by Gandhi. Regardless of our disagreements with someone’s views or statements, resorting to violence is unacceptable, and we must not endorse it,” the post emphasized.
The journalist highlighted the grave implications when security personnel resort to violence while donning their uniform.
"Consider if, over the past decade, those of us who challenged authority were accosted at airports by officers who shared the sentiments of that authority."
Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Zoya Akhtar, and Soni Razdan, among others, endorsed the post.
On Saturday, Kangana penned a lengthy missive addressing those rallying behind the CISF personnel.
“Every rapist, murderer, or thief invariably harbors strong emotional, physical, psychological, or financial motives to commit a crime. No crime is devoid of motive, yet perpetrators are tried and sentenced. If one aligns with the emotional impulses prompting criminal acts, flouting all legal norms,” she penned.
