Celebrating 79th Independence Day on Friday, the team of Border 2 released the first poster of the film and announced its release date — January 22, 2026. The action drama features Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty playing pivotal roles.
The advertisement, posted on Instagram, shows Sunny Deol in complete military attire, holding a bazooka in resolute determination — a powerful image aimed at conveying patriotism and sheer emotion. It had the following caption: "Hindustan ke liye ladenge. phir ek baar! #Border2 hits theatres on Jan 22, 2026 #HappyIndependenceDay!"
Director Anurag Singh referred to the Independence Day date announcement as "symbolic," stating, "This day reminds us of the sacrifices of our soldiers towards India's independence, and so does our film. It's an honour and a privilege to pay homage to their eternal spirit through this story."
Besides Sunny Deol, the film includes Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. Bhushan Kumar and J.P. Dutta produce it.
Bhushan Kumar, the producer, added, "Border is not just a movie — it's an emotion for all Indians. With Border 2, we want to continue that legacy for a new generation. The new release date will allow audiences to spend more time uniting and watching the film over a longer Republic Day weekend."
Nidhi Dutta, who also wrote, spoke about the emotional heart of the franchise: "The first Border was a heartfelt tribute to our armed forces. This time, we come back with the same passion, new story, and a commitment to rouse the same pride and tears in each theatre."
BORDER 2 has been produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and is directed by Anurag Singh. It is being presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta's J.P. Films. The movie will release in theatres on January 22, 2026.
