Actress Sofia Vergara found herself in a humorous moment while discussing her role on the new series 'Griselda' during a recent episode of 'The Tonight Show.' The 'Modern Family' star plays real-life Colombian drug dealer Griselda Blanco in the Netflix show and shared her experiences working on the project with host Jimmy Fallon.
Vergara praised director Andres Baiz for providing her with essential insights into the character. She humorously admitted, “I didn’t know anything. He taught me how to smoke. He taught me how to do cocaine. He taught me a lot.”
Jimmy Fallon, reacting to the revelation, playfully interjected, “Alright, hold on. He’s done a lot of great things for you.” The audience erupted in laughter.
According to 'Entertainment Weekly,' Sofia explained that Andres would share information with her while she was preparing for the role. "He would tell me all these things that would help me onscreen portrayal. It was amazing because I was 51 years old and I didn’t even know how to, you know, how to light a cigarette,” she said.
Sofia, realizing the potential misunderstanding, quickly clarified, “I’ve never done cocaine. So it’s like, it was amazing. It was, like, a great experience.”
As the audience continued to laugh, she exclaimed, “No! No!” and clarified that the cocaine in the show was fake. “It was not real cocaine. It’s fake cocaine, but I had to pretend," she explained. Adding a cheeky remark, she said, “The cigarettes are also fake. Everything was, it’s fake,” and then concluded with a smile, “But the acting was real.”
