Comedian Samay Raina, who was in the midst of controversy last month, has also delayed his return to India and rescheduled his scheduled India tour.
On Thursday, he posted an update on Instagram, announcing that they would be receiving refunds for their tickets soon and assuring them that the money would be refunded from the same transaction source.
The scandal surrounding Raina broke after the comments made by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia during an episode of Raina's YouTube program, India's Got Latent. Allahbadia uttered an unsavory comment regarding parents and sex, which immediately went viral and attracted heated outrage everywhere. This prompted numerous police complaints to be made in Mumbai and Guwahati, with investigations at present being conducted by the Mumbai cyber cell as well as the Assam police.
As the furore raged on, Raina has maintained a low profile and postponed his return to India. He is abroad, while Allahbadia has apologized for his comments and is also cooperating with the authorities. Allahbadia also revealed that he had been issued death threats and that his mother's clinic had been attacked by people who claimed to be patients. In spite of the standoff, Allahbadia maintained his confidence in the Indian judicial system and said he would battle for justice alongside admitting the insensitivity of his remarks.
Though Raina has not been directly accused of the comments, his show is now the target of the backlash, with the current legal spotlight.
