'The Sabarmati Report' promises to unfold a poignant narrative, delving into the events surrounding the Sabarmati Express tragedy that unfolded on the morning of February 27, 2002, near the Godhra railway station in Gujarat.

The creators of 'The Sabarmati Report', featuring Vikrant Massey, disclosed on Tuesday the release date for the film, which commemorates the 59 innocent lives lost in the tragic Godhra train burning incident 22 years ago. The movie is set to hit screens on May 3, 2024.

A teaser video accompanying the announcement serves as a solemn tribute to the victims of the heart-wrenching incident. In the video, Vikrant Massey portrays the character of a journalist seated in a newsroom, somberly recounting the fateful events. "I am Sabar Kumar. On February 27, 2002, the Sabarmati Express, traveling from Ayodhya to Gujarat, met with an unfortunate incident at the Godhra station," he says in Hindi, before pausing dramatically and adding, "The burning of the Sabarmati Express was not just an accident..." The video also includes glimpses of original footage from the incident.
 

Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, 'The Sabarmati Report' features Vikrant Massey alongside Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra. Directed by Ranjan Chandel, the film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan.
