Following the resolution of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the release dates for 'Deadpool 3' and 'Captain America 4' have undergone a significant reshuffling.
Previously put on indefinite hold, the films now boast confirmed release schedules. 'Deadpool 3' is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024, a shift from its initial May 3, 2024, date. Meanwhile, 'Captain America: New World Order' has been postponed by nine months, now slated for February 14, 2025, instead of its original July slot, as reported by 'The Hollywood Reporter.'
The Marvel Cinematic Universe faces additional setbacks, with 'Blade' and 'Thunderbolts' experiencing notable delays, pushing their release dates to 2025.
'Thunderbolts,' featuring Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan, will now premiere on July 25, 2025, having been pushed back from its initial date of December 20, 2024. 'Blade,' starring Mahershala Ali as the vampire-hunter, sees a nine-month delay, rescheduled for November 7, 2025, originally slated for February 14, 2025.
Both 'Blade' and 'Thunderbolts' had plans to commence production in the summer. However, due to unprepared scripts amid the writers' strike in May, production was halted.
In a departure from Marvel, Disney has decided to shift the release date for its 'The Lion King' spin-off, 'Mufasa: The Lion King,' to December 20, 2024, from the initial date of July 5, 2024.
With the resolution of the SAG-AFTRA strike and a tentative agreement reached with Hollywood studios after a strenuous 118-day period, insiders from the 'Deadpool 3' set reveal that director Shawn Levy is gearing up to resume shooting in London within the next two weeks.
Contrastingly, 'Captain America: New World Order,' featuring Anthony Mackie as Captain America/Sam Wilson, had already completed principal photography before the strikes. The decision to move its release to a later date was unexpected, as many anticipated it would swap dates with 'Deadpool,' premiering in May 2024.
