Raj Kapoor is considered one of the most international filmmakers India has produced. He has left an indelible mark on world cinema. Fondly known as "The Greatest Showman," he was born to legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor.
His films were the pulse of post-Partition India, the dreams of the common man, and the rural-urban divide. With classics like Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Sangam (1964), and Mera Naam Joker (1970), which are not only classic but also stand the test of time, Raj Kapoor's cinema has become synonymous with emotion, innovation, and humanism.
Raj Kapoor was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1971 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988.
