Randeep Hooda Reflects on Portraying Sarabjit: Believes Karma Has Caught up with His Attacker

In what appears to be a targeted attack, unidentified gunmen fatally shot Amir Tanba, a key figure implicated in the killing of Sarabjit Singh at Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail in 2013.

Following the news of the assailant responsible for Late Sarabjit Singh's demise being gunned down in Pakistan, actor Randeep Hooda, who portrayed him in the 2016 biographical film 'Sarbjit,' expressed his belief that karma inevitably finds its way, even if it's delivered by unknown hands.

In what appears to be a targeted attack, unidentified gunmen fatally shot Amir Tanba, a key figure implicated in the killing of Sarabjit Singh at Lahore's Kot Lakhpat Jail in 2013.

The unfortunate incident occurred outside Amir Tanba's residence in Islampura, Lahore, where two unidentified assailants on motorcycles opened fire, leaving him critically wounded.

In an interview with IANS, an emotionally stirred Randeep Hooda reflected on the concept of karma.

"Throughout the portrayal of Sarabjit's story, there was always a deep sense of tragedy, especially when it seemed like efforts were being made to bring him back to his family in India, only for him to meet his demise in prison," shared the actor.

Randeep also attended the funeral of Sarabjit's sister, Dalbir Kaur, who passed away in 2022.

"Learning about the demise of his assailant, I couldn't help but ponder what Dalbir ji might have felt. Undoubtedly, it might have brought a sense of closure after her relentless pursuit of justice over the years," expressed the actor.

He mentioned plans to reach out to Sarabjit's daughters for a conversation soon.

"Karma has its way of catching up, even if it's delivered through unforeseen circumstances," reiterated the actor.

Directed by Omung Kumar, 'Sarbjit' features Randeep Hooda essaying the role of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian who faced a death sentence by Pakistan's Supreme Court in 1991, enduring 22 years of imprisonment on charges of terrorism and espionage.

The film also stars Aishwarya Rai, Richa Chadha, and Darshan Kumar.
