Popular Israeli web series 'Fauda' star Matan Meir killed in Gaza

In a tragic turn of events, Matan Meir, a 38-year-old star of the popular Israeli web series 'Fauda,' lost his life while fighting against Hamas in Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Meir's death, stating that he was a member of the 697th Battalion in the IDF's 551st Brigade.

Matan Meir's demise was announced on social media by the 'Fauda' team, expressing deep sorrow for the loss. Meir, hailing from Odem, played a crucial role in the series and was remembered as an integral crew member.
 

The fatal incident occurred when Meir and four other IDF soldiers were killed in a blast from a booby-trapped tunnel shaft in the northern Gaza Strip. This unfortunate event raised the total count of soldiers lost in Gaza to 42, according to reports from Israeli media.
