Vetern Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal has officially announced his exit from the much-awaited movie Hera Pheri 3. Although earlier rumors had suggested creative differences with the directors as the reason for him leaving, Rawal now has stepped forward to set the records straight, declaring that no such differences existed.
Taking to X (previously Twitter), Rawal dispelled the rumors, confirming his backing of the director of the movie, Priyadarshan. "I want to put it on record that my decision to exit Hera Pheri 3 was not because of creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER. I have immense love, regard, and trust for Mr. Priyadarshan the film director (sic)," he posted.
Reports of his exit created a string of disappointment from fans, who were dismayed by the lack of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, the iconic character Rawal has portrayed. A few went so far as to recommend the film not be made without him, highlighting how important his character has become to the franchise's brand.
The Hera Pheri franchise began in 2000 with the first film directed by Priyadarshan, starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. The sequel Phir Hera Pheri, directed by Neeraj Vora, arrived in 2006 and picked up in the comedy run of the three men. The films are largely praised for their quick wit and memorable one-liners, with Rawal's performance of Baburao being specially cited as the high point.
Even though he quit Hera Pheri 3, Paresh Rawal had recently finished working with director Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar on another film, a horror-comedy called Bhooth Bangla, which will release in 2026. He also features in the star cast of the upcoming movie Welcome to the Jungle.
