She described the two having first met while working alongside one another on MTV's show Wonderland. "I was the music girl, he was the comedy guy," she remembered. "I was just like, 'He's my best friend.'"

Even though she had guy friends in the music industry, Lizzo explained that Wright was different. "I was like, 'Wow, I can really talk to him.' We had this crazy bond for years," she explained, going on to say, "I do love that we were friends first, so that means we can talk about anything.

"Knows he's your best friend," Shane pointed out. "Literally," Lizzo said. She followed this up with, "That is low-key like a fantasy, right? It's like a BookTok dream to be like, 'Oh my God, he was my best friend.'"

Lizzo and Myke Wright publicly confirmed being in a relationship in April 2022 after Andy Cohen inadvertently spilled the beans while on his radio program. The couple then made their red carpet appearance at a For Your Consideration event celebrating her Amazon Prime Video reality show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls two months later.

Later that year, in a December 2022 interview on The Howard Stern Show, Lizzo reflected on how their bond had evolved, saying, “We’re not playing any games with each other anymore. We’re very much locked in.”
