According to Fawazul Kabir of CBMAK, during a recent episode of Shark Tank India broadcasted on January 30 by Sony Entertainment Television, Tramboo Sports purported itself as the manufacturer of cricket bats sourced from local maker Alfa Sports & Company.

The Cricket Bat Manufacturers Association of Kashmir (CBMAK) has taken legal action against Sony Entertainment Television, Shark Tank India, and Tramboo Sports, alleging significant business loss and mental distress.

According to Fawazul Kabir of CBMAK, during a recent episode of Shark Tank India broadcasted on January 30 by Sony Entertainment Television, Tramboo Sports purported itself as the manufacturer of cricket bats sourced from local maker Alfa Sports & Company.

Kabir stated that Alfa Sports & Company, through a legal notice served to Shark Tank India, Sony Entertainment Television, and Tramboo Sports, has demanded Rs 500 crore in damages for the endured mental agony and business decline. Alfa Sports & Company contends that the cricket bats supposedly manufactured exclusively by Tramboo Sports were actually purchased from them, thus constituting a blatant violation of vendor relationships and contractual agreements.

Furthermore, local cricket bat manufacturers question the legitimacy of Tramboo Sports' technological assertions. They highlight that the technologies boasted by Tramboo Sports were originally part of a government initiative in Jammu and Kashmir aimed at enhancing the quality of Kashmir willow cricket bats.

Focusing on the collective efforts of approximately 400 manufacturing units across Kashmir, Kabir emphasized the industry's reliance on government-backed willow technology and storage facilities.

In response to these allegations, Tramboo Sports clarified that its operations are grounded in contract manufacturing and that it has not laid claim to exclusive manufacturing rights. This clarification comes as the company endeavors to address the concerns raised by CBMAK and local cricket bat manufacturers regarding the authenticity of its practices and technological advancements.
