News has been circulating for quite some time about Karan Johar's involvement in a romantic-comedy featuring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk in leading roles, under the direction of Anand Tiwari. Initially, speculations hinted at titles such as ‘Rola’ or ‘Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam’ for the film. However, Karan Johar recently put all rumors to rest by officially announcing that the film is titled ‘Bad Newz’, a comedy inspired by real-life events. He further revealed that the movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 19, 2024.
Accompanying the announcement was a teaser of the film showcasing the trio of actors, with Karan captioning it, “Prepare for an uproarious extravaganza - a comedy inspired by real events! #BadNewz IN CINEMAS July 19, 2024!”
Earlier in the day, Vicky Kaushal hinted at a forthcoming revelation alongside Triptii Dimri and Ammy through an Instagram video. “Amidst a plethora of news - we have two in store for you! But which one shall we unveil first - good news or bad news? Share your preference in the comments below,” wrote the actor.
The video commences with Vicky introducing that they have some news to share, followed by, “Now, we have one piece of good news and one piece of bad news…which one would you like to hear first?”. Subsequently, Triptii and Ammy join in, with Triptii expressing interest in the good news while Ammy opts for the bad news initially.
For the uninitiated, Karan had previously commended the trio of actors and disclosed that the untitled project was slated for a theatrical release on February 23, 2024. During that period, several images of Vicky and Triptii from their shoot in Croatia circulated online. Finally, with the teaser unveiling, the film's title and release date have been confirmed. However, whether the film shares any direct connection with the 2019 comedy-drama ‘Good Newwz’ remains undisclosed.
