Jay Weinberg, the former drummer of the renowned heavy metal band Slipknot, has broken his silence after his surprising and unexpected departure from the group. In response to the announcement, New Jersey-born Jay Weinberg has now addressed the situation, expressing that he is "heartbroken" and revealing that he was taken by surprise.
Taking to Instagram to share his thoughts, Jay wrote a heartfelt statement, saying, "I was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after."
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Jay expressed gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support from the community he considers his creative and artistic home. He acknowledged the journey he had committed to seeing through, stating that this turn of events is not the ending he had dreamt of.
He continued, "But, despite the confusion and sadness, there is something that’s provided an equal amount of comfort. For many of you reading this: 10 years ago, we weren’t yet acquainted. And now, we are. For that, I’m thankful in ways I’ll never be able to fully express.” Jay Weinberg's statement reflects both his disappointment at the unexpected departure and his appreciation for the connection he has built with the Slipknot community over the past decade.
Jay added: "This isn’t the end, and I’m thrilled to discover what the future has in store for us... Thank you."
