International star, Priyanka Chopra is one of those actors who never shies away from talking about their personal and love life. In the recent campaign video of Bulgari, PeeCee who is often seen wearing Mangalsutra talked about the moment she wore it for the first time and what does it truly mean in her culture.
Sharing a brand endorsement on her Instagram page for a jewelry brand, PeeCee talked about the first time she wore a Mangalsutra and also discussed the meaning and importance of it.
She said, “I remember when I wore mine for the first time… because we have grown with the idea of what it means. It was just a very special moment for me. At the same time, as a modern woman, I also understand the repercussions of what it means. Do I like the idea of wearing mangalsutra or is it too patriarchal? But at the same time, I am that generation that's sort of in the middle. Maintain tradition but know who you are and what you stand for. And we'll see what the next generation of girls might do differently.”
She also told the other person the reason behind the use of black beads in a mangalsutra. “The black is basically to ward off evil, to protect you,” she added.
Priyanka Chopra who got married to American actor and singer Nick Jonas was first seen donning Mangalsutra back in 2018 when she stepped out in the US for the first time after her marriage. The couple has been married for three years now and lives at their posh residence in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Priyanka who was last seen in Matrix is currently filming for her new series titled ‘Citadel’.
