Tamil actress and ex-Bigg Boss contestant Gabriella Charlton has lashed out at the objectification she receives on the internet, venting deep frustration at being sexualized for no reason.
Posting on her Instagram stories, Gabriella vented her feelings, speaking out about her hurt and disappointment.
"I know I've spoken to this several times, but here we go again: Is social media just not a safe place? I feel like I'm constantly being objectified—for no fault of mine," she reported.
In her moving letter, Gabriella asked some strong questions to her critics and fans alike: "What's so provocative about a travel vlog or a GRWM video? Why must everything be sexualized? Why must I be sexualized? Is that all I am to you?"
Refusing to be dragged down by negativity, she asserted her self-worth and strength. "You don't get to make me feel small. I'm not giving you that power," she added.
She didn't mince words when speaking to those who hurled abusive insults and inappropriate comments her way.
And don't even get me started on the verbal tirades and lewd remarks. Some of you really gross me out. Behind a screen is not being brave—it's just cowardly," she posted.
Gabriella, widely appreciated for her dancing prowess, has been part of several television dance reality shows, including Jodi Number One. She gained notable recognition through her appearance on the Tamil version of Bigg Boss, and also made a mark with her role in director Samuthirakani’s film Appa.
Her latest outing to the big screen was in the action drama Varunan, directed by Jayavelmurugan. The film, which had Dushyanth Jayaprakash sharing screen space with her, was produced by Karthick Sreedharan and released in theaters in March this year.
