Addressing the criticism around his casting as an Oompa-Loompa, Grant mentioned having lots of children and needing money. The film faced backlash for casting a non-dwarf actor in a role traditionally given to individuals with dwarfism. Actor George Coppen, who has dwarfism, criticized the casting decision, expressing concern about dwarfs being pushed out of the industry and advocating for equal opportunities.

Coppen, best known for his role in Netflix's "The School for Good and Evil," mentioned that in the previous films, all Oompa-Loompas were played by dwarves. He raised objections to Hugh Grant's casting, stating that work was being taken away from actors with dwarfism. Coppen emphasized the need for more opportunities for actors with dwarfism in the industry.
