FIR Filed After Threat Mails Sent to Kapil Sharma, Remo D'Souza, Rajpal Yadav

Actor Kapil Sharma has allegedly received a death threat that had targeted him as well as his family. Through an email, reportedly originated from Pakistan, the comedian said that the threat is neither "a publicity stunt" nor a "harassment attempt."

An FIR has been registered with the Mumbai Police against an unidentified person and inquiry has begun regarding the matter as reported by NDTV. Kapil Sharma is the latest to join the list of Bollywood celebrities who have received such threats. Earlier, Remo D'Souza, Rajpal Yadav, and Sugandha Mishra had also received such threats. According to reports, the death threat email to Kapil Sharma was sent from Pakistan on December 14. The message, signed by name 'BISHNU', also urged celebrities to reply to the death threat within eight hours or face dire consequences.

Mumbai's Amboli Police station has filed an FIR against an unknown person under section 351(3) of BNS.

"We are tracking your current activities and think it is appropriate that we remind you of a sensitive issue. This is not a publicity stunt or a harassment attempt. We request that you take this message with all seriousness and discretion," NDTV quoted the email sent to Kapil Sharma.

According to the NDTV report, Remo D'Souza, Rajpal Yadav, and Sugandha Mishra are some of the other celebrities who have received similar death threats on mail. Police have been investigating these cases of death threats to Bollywood celebrities.

There are recent incidents of death threats mailed to multiple Bollywood celebrities and it also coincides with a deadly attack on Saif Ali Khan by a Bangladeshi national at his residence in Mumbai. Khan, who received serious injuries, had to undergo multiple surgeries before being discharged from Lilavati Hospital on January 21.

Just a few months ago, three assailants outside his son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Mumbai shot dead former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in October. One of the most influential politicians in Mumbai, he was very close to Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
