The 69th Filmfare Awards is set to witness a face-off between two of Shah Rukh Khan's successful films of the year in the best film (popular) category. "Jawan" and "Dunki" are both nominated alongside "12th Fail," "OMG 2," and "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani."
Shah Rukh Khan is also in the running for the best actor award for his roles in "Jawan" and "Dunki." Other nominees in the category include Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Sunny Deol, and Vicky Kaushal. The best director category features notable names like Atlee, Karan Johar, Amit Rai, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Siddharth Anand, and Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
In the female actor category, contenders include Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, and Kiara Advani. The best film (critics) category includes titles like "12th Fail," "Bheed," "Faraaz," "Three of Us," "Joram," "Sam Bahadur," and "Zwigato."
The best actor (critics) list features Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao, Vikrant Massey, and Vicky Kaushal. Meanwhile, the critics' female actor category includes Deepti Naval, Rani Mukerji, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Shefali Shah, Saiyami Kher, and Shahana Goswami.
The best supporting actor (male) category sees Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol competing for "Animal." Other nominees include Emraan Hashmi, Tota Roy Chowdhary, and Aditya Rawal. Notably, veteran actor Dharmendra's name was missing from the list.
In the supporting actor (female) category, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ratna Pathak Shah, Tripti Dimri, and Yami Gautam are among the nominees. Shabana Azmi also secured a double nomination in the category for "Ghoomer."
The Filmfare Awards will recognize talent across various categories, including editing, action, VFX, cinematography, production design, costume design, lyrics, music album, singer (male and female), story, screenplay, dialogue, background score, choreography, and sound design. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on January 28.
