Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki has won a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role as Princess Diana in the popular streaming series 'The Crown.'
This is a big win as Debicki becomes the first Australian to take home the award in the category.
I didn't write anything down because I'm very superstitious, and now I'm in a real pickle, so I'm going to do this quickly," Debicki said, during the acceptance speech. "Peter (Morgan), thanks. Thanks for making this show. Thanks for trusting me with this.".
The Crown' is a historical drama series based on the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Created and written by Peter Morgan, it follows his other works, such as the film 'The Queen' and the stage play 'The Audience.' The productions also focused on the British monarch.
The program runs for six seasons and covers nearly sixty years of the life of Queen Elizabeth from 1947, when she married Philip Mountbatten to her son's wedding ceremony with Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005.
She was born in Paris to a Polish father and an Australian mother of Irish origin. As a trained ballet dancer, Elizabeth Debicki opted to convert into a theatre allegiance. In 2010, Elizabeth Debicki took her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama from the Victorian College of the Arts of the University of Melbourne. As 'The Great Gatsby,' 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,' 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,' 'The Night Manager,' and 'The Crown' would bear witness to, among many others.
It is scheduled to be held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California, under the presentation of Dan Levy and Eugene Levy. The TV broadcast for the Primetime Emmys will be available on Lionsgate Play for viewers in India.
