"Uncle Samsik," an upcoming period drama series on Disney+, is set to feature Song Kang-ho, renowned for his role in "Parasite," in a leading role. The series, directed and written by Shin Yeon-shick, known for Korean hits like "The Russian Novel" and "Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet," promises an ambitious narrative set in the 1960s, a period marked by significant social and political unrest in Korea.

The storyline of "Uncle Samsik" revolves around Kim San, a young idealist determined to revolutionize his nation's destiny. His pursuits attract the attention of a cunning fixer, adept at navigating any circumstance to aid in fulfilling his boss' objectives, as stated in the synopsis.

Song Kang-ho takes on the role of the fixer Pak Doochill, also known as Uncle Samsik, while Byun Yo-han, recognized for his work in K-drama "Mr. Sunshine," portrays Kim San.

This 16-episode drama is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ this year, marking Song's debut in a series and Shin's first venture into television. The duo previously collaborated on two films in 2023: the volleyball drama "One Win" and the dark comedy "Cobweb."
