Discovering the Essence of 'Namaste' on the Set of 'Dangal': Aamir Khan's Journey

Renowned Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who was last seen in 'Laal Singh Chaddha', shared an interesting story about shooting 'Dangal' in Punjab, where he learned the relevance of the Indian greeting 'Namaste'.

He narrated how he had discovered the cultural richness of 'Namaste' from his childhood.

Sharing a story of his shooting in Punjab for 'Rang de Basanti', he recalled, "Punjabi people were warm and welcoming. This should be the reason why I carry a feeling of warmth and affection in my heart even today. After shooting 'Dangal' at some small village for more than two months, I came to know how hospitality means."

He went on and shared such a sweet insight, "From the morning, when my car would reach the village, the people would stand outside their homes with folded hands and greet me with 'Sat Sri Akaal'. Their genuine warmth was incomparable. Even after the day's shooting was completed, they would wave me goodbye with a sincere 'Good Night'."

He adopted to the humility of 'Namaste' in his stay at Punjab. He said, "From my Muslim background, I wasn't used to 'Namaste'. But then I did see genuine respect and inclusiveness among the people of Punjab and the concept really becomes beautiful because one respects everybody equally."
