Following the recent appointment of David Koepp to craft the screenplay, the creators of the upcoming 'Jurassic World' installment are currently engaged in preliminary discussions with David Leitch to helm the next chapter in this lucrative franchise.
Scheduled for release on July 2, 2025, this new installment promises a fresh perspective on the Jurassic era. Notably, familiar faces from the 'Jurassic World' series, including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as original trilogy stars Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill, are not anticipated to return for this venture.
Backed by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, the film will be produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, alongside David Leitch and Kelly McCormick of 87North serving as additional producers.
The negotiations with Leitch come as Universal Pictures expresses considerable enthusiasm for his upcoming project, 'The Fall Guy', featuring acclaimed actors Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, slated for release on May 3.
Leitch's involvement marks a significant addition to the franchise, following in the footsteps of Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two installments based on Michael Crichton's bestselling novel. Notably, Koepp, who collaborated with Crichton on the original script, is returning for this project.
The previous film in the series, 'Jurassic World: Dominion', achieved tremendous success, surpassing the billion-dollar milestone in global box office revenue. This underscores the enduring fascination audiences have with dinosaurs, making the franchise a top priority for Universal, not only in cinema but also in its theme parks.
Leitch's impressive track record, which includes co-creating the acclaimed 'John Wick' franchise with Chad Stahelski, as well as showcasing his flair for action and humor in films like 'Deadpool 2' and 'Bullet Train', positions him as an ideal candidate to steer the next chapter of the 'Jurassic World' saga.
