Speculation is high of a potential split between Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife of 38 years, Sunita Ahuja. Although his lawyer has confirmed that she has initiated divorce proceedings, his manager dismisses the incident as just a "difference of opinion." The actor himself has not made any comments, while Sunita's recent interviews suggest marital conflict.
Lawyer Confirms Divorce Filing
Lalit Bindal, Govinda's attorney and one of the closest family friends, disclosed that indeed Sunita had given divorce notice.
". there are a few misunderstandings. I can assure you she filed for a divorce. I have the notice here. But it will get resolved soon," Bindal disclosed to PTI.
Govinda's Manager Brands It an Exaggeration
The manager of the actor, Shashi Sinha, doused the rumour of their divorce, ascribing that the issue had been blown out of proportion.
"Govinda ji doesn't wish to speak about the rumors. He is occupied with working on his two home production movies. He is unhappy with the way it turned out. It's disappointing," Sinha replied to PTI.
The couple, as per him, is not experiencing any serious troubles but a misalignment of views about Govinda's professional choices.
"It is about the work he is undertaking under his home production unit. Sunita ji wishes him to take decisions intelligently," he clarified.
Discussing Separation Gossip
There have been speculations that Govinda and Sunita have been staying apart since years, but Bindal dismissed such rumors.
"It is not that they stay apart. Take any minister or politician. They have an official bungalow. Same is the situation with Govinda. He has a flat right opposite his bungalow. Many politicians and film stars drop by for meetings, so he stays in the official bungalow. And this has been happening since 2004," he clarified.
Govinda Denies Divorce Plans
While in an interview with The Times of India, Govinda categorically denied any divorce filing.
"There are just business discussions happening. I am setting up my films," he asserted.
Sunita Ahuja's Comments Spark Gossip
The gossip gained momentum after Sunita Ahuja's open interviews regarding her marriage. She openly discussed adultery, discontentment, and her desires for her next life.
On a podcast, she spoke about how Govinda doesn't handle criticism very well and has a tendency to say that he has "enemies in his house."
On another interview, when questioned regarding Govinda's romantic nature, she made an interesting comment:
"I have explained to him that in my next life, he should not be my husband. He does not take vacations. I am a person who wishes to go out with her husband and take pani-puri on the streets. He worked too much. I do not remember a single occasion when we both went out to see a movie."
The couple has two children, son Yashvardhan and daughter Tina.
Although the circumstances are not clear, Sunita's statement and the lawyer's assurance of filing for divorce indicate that things are not good between them.
