Cher Seeks Conservatorship for Son Elijah Over Substance Abuse Concerns

The documents state that Elijah, set to receive assets from a trust, needs urgent protection of his property due to his severe mental health and substance abuse issues.

Veteran singer-songwriter Cher has filed for a conservatorship for her son Elijah Blue Allman, citing his alleged recent substance abuse issues. According to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Cher is seeking to be the sole conservator of Elijah's estate, claiming that he is "substantially unable to manage his financial resources."

The documents state that Elijah, set to receive assets from a trust, needs urgent protection of his property due to his severe mental health and substance abuse issues. Cher is concerned that funds distributed to Elijah may be spent on drugs, leaving him with no assets to provide for himself and putting his life at risk.

Cher asserts that Elijah's estranged wife, Marieangela King, is not suitable as his conservator due to their tumultuous relationship marked by drug addiction and mental health crises. The filing notes Cher's efforts to get Elijah into treatment and help him, emphasizing her love for him and her commitment to acting in his best interests.

The filing reveals that Elijah's mental and physical health issues have prevented him from discussing his preferences regarding the appointment of a temporary conservator. A hearing for a temporary order is scheduled for January 5, 2024, with a hearing on a permanent order set for March 6, 2024.

Cher had previously broken her silence on Elijah's struggles, addressing reports of an alleged intervention in November 2022, where she was said to have hired men to remove her son from a hotel room in New York City.
