Bollywood superstar Govinda, who accidentally shot himself on Tuesday morning while cleaning his licensed pistol, was doing well hours after the doctors removed the bullet from his body in Mumbai.
His brother, Kirti Kumar, on Tuesday released an update about the star's health after his surgery in CritiCare Hospital in Juhu.
Kirti Kumar told IANS, "Govinda is feeling better now. The bullet has been successfully removed from his body.".
Doctors are optimistic that Govinda might be discharged from the hospital in two to three days.
"He is still in a stable situation," he said. "We are thankful and pledge that nothing like this has ever occurred before. We just want to thank all the fans of Govinda from the bottom of our hearts who have prayed for his fast recovery."
Earlier this morning, Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg when he was cleaning his pistol at home in Juhu.
At the hospital, he was treated.
Govinda is out of danger, but he will remain in the ICU for 24 hours as precautions.
The police are investigating the case.
It was reported that the gun went off accidentally, which led to the mishap.
More details on it can be confirmed after receiving the ballistic report, say the police.
At the time of accident, only Govinda's servant was at home, and he was the one who took the actor to the hospital.
After the incident, one police team visited the hospital, while another went to Govinda's house.
The Mumbai Police said they were trying to figure out how the pistol went off.
It is beyond doubt that the bullet came from Govinda's licensed pistol, but whether it was an accidental misfire from his hand or the gun went off after falling to the ground is something which is still being investigated by both the Crime Branch and the police.
