Big B Celebrates India’s Chess Champions on Their Historic Victory

On Tuesday, the veteran actor took to his Instagram and posted a video of stills of players of the Indian contingent. In the caption, he wrote, "India's amazing victory at Chess Olympiad!!! Chess players, full India is grateful. The chest is wide with pride, they have spread the tricolour."

Bollywood's veteran icon Amitabh Bachchan, who anchors the quiz-based reality show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', wished well to the Indian chess team after they clinched 2 gold medals in both men's and women's categories in the recently concluded 45th Chess Olympiad.

Team India wrote history as it bagged the gold medal for the first time in 45 years in the history of the Chess Olympiad. First, it was the men's team featuring Vidit Gujrathi, Arjun Erigaisi, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, Pentala Harikrishna, and D Gukesh that ended India's 97-year wait to win its first-ever gold in the Chess Olympiad.

Then the women's team comprising Divya Deshmukh, D Harika, Tania Sachdev, Vaishali Rameshbabu and Vantika Agrawal won the second gold for India in the Chess Olympiad 2024 that took place in Budapest, Hungary as the country celebrated in euphoric spirits.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished the Indian team as he took to his X and wrote, "Historic win for India as our chess contingent wins the 45th #FIDE Chess Olympiad! India has won the Gold in both open and women's category at the Chess Olympiad!" Congratulations to both our Men's and Women's Chess Teams.". He added further, "This is a significant achievement, a new milestone really on the sports trajectory of India. Hopefully, it will inspire generations of chess players to strive for excellence in the game.".

But on the professional front, Big B was recently seen in the blockbuster film 'Kalki 2898 AD.' He has 'Vettaiyan' in the pipeline, in which he will re-unite with Tamil megastar Rajinikanth after 33 long years.
