BAFTA Longlist Revealed: 'Barbie', 'Oppenheimer', and 'Killers of the Flower Moon' Take the Lead

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has unveiled the first-round voting results for the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards. Three films, namely 'Barbie,' 'Oppenheimer,' and 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' have each earned 15 longlist nominations, spanning categories such as best film and best director.

The trio's significant recognition reflects their cultural impact during the ongoing awards season. Last year, only 'All Quiet on the Western Front' secured 15 longlist nominations, ultimately winning the Best Film category at the BAFTA Film Awards.

'Poor Things' received 14 nominations, 'Maestro' earned 12, and 'Saltburn' garnered 11 nominations but narrowly missed a Best Film slot. Other UK films that performed well include 'The Zone of Interest' and 'All of Us Strangers,' each with 10 nominations, 'Wonka' with eight, 'How to Have Sex' with six, and 'Rye Lane' with five.

The recognition of new talent was evident, with the debut directors of 'How to Have Sex' and 'Rye Lane,' Molly Manning Walker and Raine Allen-Miller, respectively, receiving longlist nominations in the director category. Lead actors Mia McKenna-Bruce and Vivian Oparah were also acknowledged in the leading actress category.

The final nominations for the BAFTA Film Awards are set to be announced on January 18, with the ceremony scheduled to take place at London's Royal Festival Hall on February 18.
